Bespoke illustrations that became part of the brand — and a field-ready app that lets producers manage their flocks off-grid.
The brief
Bowler Eggs is an egg production business working with a network of producers across the UK. They came to us with two distinct needs. The first was a set of advertising concepts for trade publications and event stands that would clearly communicate what they do. The second was a mobile app to replace a desktop-only system that required producers to log flock data via a website — impractical for farmers working in the field with limited or no connectivity.
The thinking
For the advertising work, we created bespoke illustrations that captured the full Bowler Eggs operation in a way photography alone could not. The response was strong enough that the illustrations became an integral part of their brand identity. For the app, we designed and built a cross-platform tool using Flutter, with full offline capability — producers can enter flock data in the field and it syncs automatically when they are back online. The technical challenge was significant: the app needed to integrate with Bowler Eggs’ existing database through a bespoke API, handle multiple producer accounts, and manage data across flock lifecycles that can span fifteen to one hundred weeks.
The outcome
The app is live on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, tested across multiple real producer accounts and in active use. Producers can now manage their flocks, track egg production, monitor mortality and view earnings from anywhere — no desktop, no browser, no signal required. Bowler Eggs retain full ownership through their own developer accounts, and we provide ongoing maintenance and support to keep the app updated across both platforms. The illustrations, meanwhile, continue to define how the business presents itself across print and exhibitions.
